Golden Giant — 63" Seven-Zone Production Sluice
Built Big. Built to Move Material.
The Golden Giant is the largest sluice in the Hobby Miner Outlet lineup — designed for the prospector who has moved beyond small sampling runs and wants a much larger working recovery system.
At approximately 63 inches assembled, it combines a wide feed hopper with a 47" × 10" main recovery channel divided into seven distinct recovery zones.
This is not a backpack mini.
The Golden Giant is built for working more material while giving that material a long, structured path through the recovery system.
Big in the Creek. Smarter in Transport.
A 63-inch recovery system can become a problem if you cannot reasonably move it.
Golden Giant was designed around that reality.
It folds flat for transport and incorporates built-in carrying handles, making the system easier to move, store, and deploy than its full operating length would suggest.
Set it up when you reach the working area.
Fold it down when the run is finished.
Wide 24" Feed Hopper
The Golden Giant starts with a substantial:
24" wide × 16" long hopper
The hopper provides a broad working area for introducing material into the system before it transitions into the narrower recovery channel.
Its integrated prospecting structures begin interacting with material before it reaches the main run, helping distribute the workload across more than one part of the system.
47" Main Recovery Channel
From the hopper, material enters a:
47" long × 10" wide main channel
That long working area gives water and material considerably more recovery surface than a compact river sluice.
But length alone is not the point.
The Golden Giant divides that channel into seven different recovery zones.
Seven Recovery Zones
Each zone uses a different corrugation profile, creating changes in the way water and material interact as they move downstream.
Instead of repeating one recovery geometry for the entire 47-inch run, the Golden Giant gives material a sequence of different structures to encounter.
That creates repeated opportunities for heavier material to slow, settle, separate, and interact with the recovery surface.
The overall concept is:
Feed → transition → staged recovery → secondary recovery → final downstream capture
Different zones. One continuous recovery channel.
Why Multiple Recovery Zones?
Gold-bearing material is rarely uniform.
A shovel load can contain:
- Larger rock
- Sand
- Fine sediment
- Black sand and other heavies
- Coarser gold
- Fine or flour gold
All of those materials behave differently in moving water.
The Golden Giant's multi-zone architecture is designed to give the material different recovery environments as it progresses through the sluice instead of asking one riffle geometry to perform every job.
Actual recovery still depends on the ground and the setup.
Water volume, sluice angle, material classification, feed rate, clay content, gold size and shape, and operator technique all matter.
Golden Giant gives you the recovery system. You tune it to the material in front of you.

Designed for Higher-Volume Prospecting
Golden Giant sits at the opposite end of the Hobby Miner Outlet lineup from our backpack and mini sluices.
A small sluice is about portability and sampling.
Golden Giant is about giving you:
- A much wider feed area
- A long recovery run
- Seven recovery zones
- More working surface
- Greater material-handling capability
- A system designed around extended creek and river runs
If your goal is simply to test a pocket of gravel, Golden Giant is more equipment than you need.
If your goal is to set up, stay awhile, and work material, that's exactly what it was designed for.
USA Made. Maker Direct.
Golden Giant isn't sourced from a catalog and rebranded.
We design it. We manufacture it. We inspect it.
Its size, folding construction, hopper, and seven-zone recovery channel were developed as parts of the same recovery system.
And because design and manufacturing remain close together, field feedback can feed directly back into future production decisions.
That's what maker-direct means at Hobby Miner Outlet.
Built Different. By Design.
Golden Giant was not created by simply making a normal sluice longer.
The system was designed around a wide feed section, extended working channel, multiple recovery geometries, and a folding structure capable of being transported after the run is over.
63 inches. Seven recovery zones. One purpose-built recovery system.
When you're ready to move beyond the mini, this is where the lineup goes.
