I didn't come to gold prospecting through geology or gear catalogs. I came to it through design — through a European workshop tradition that treats a simple tool as a problem worth solving properly. The first time I watched fine gold slip over the lip of a cheap plastic pan, I didn't see bad luck. I saw bad engineering.

Design starts with the water, not the plastic

Recovery isn't magic — it's fluid dynamics. Every riffle angle, every wall taper, every micro-texture on a Morgan pan exists to do one thing: create the low-pressure pockets that drop gold out of suspension and hold it there while the lighter material washes away. I prototype the geometry, test it in real water, and refine it until the numbers — and the vials — agree. A 7° riffle isn't a style choice. It's an answer.

Built to survive the conditions you actually work in

A design only matters if it holds its edge in the field. That's why the core line is manufactured in engineering-grade PETG rather than the brittle polypropylene most pans are made from — so the riffles that took months to perfect don't round off, crack, or chalk out after one cold season on the creek.

The ideas are drafted in Europe. The gear is manufactured and hand-inspected in Oregon, then stood behind by the team at Hobby Miner Outlet.
