Gold Witch — 67" Modular Gold Recovery Chute

Built Big. Built to Move Material.

The Gold Witch is HMO's long-format modular recovery chute, developed by bringing multiple riffle concepts together into one approximately 67.5-inch recovery channel.

Instead of using the same recovery geometry from entrance to discharge, the Gold Witch divides the chute into purpose-built sections designed to handle different stages of material movement and recovery.

Add the integrated grizzly system and you have a chute designed for prospectors who want to feed material, classify oversized rock at the box, and keep the recovery process moving.

Dual-Segment Recovery Channel

The Gold Witch uses two primary recovery sections.

Front Recovery Segment

The front section is designed to handle the initial material load and provide capture opportunities for both coarser and finer heavy material.

This is where incoming material first begins interacting with the Gold Witch riffle system.

Rear Fine-Recovery Segment

The rear section shifts the emphasis toward finer recovery and incorporates three integrated expansion-grid sections.

These provide additional changes in flow and settling structure as material progresses toward the end of the chute.

The concept is straightforward:

Process the heavier incoming load first, then give the finer material additional recovery opportunities farther downstream.

Integrated Grizzly — Feed From the Shovel

The rear assembly incorporates a grizzly-bar cover that allows appropriately sized raw material to be fed directly into the Gold Witch without separately hand-classifying every shovel load first.

The grizzly bars allow smaller material to enter the recovery system while directing oversized rock away from the working channel.

That means less time manually classifying and more time feeding material when site conditions allow.

As with any grizzly system, wet clay, compacted material, vegetation, and unusually sticky material may still require breaking apart before feeding.

Dual-Lock Grizzly Mount

The grizzly assembly is secured at both ends.

  • Front: wing-nut anchor for quick removal
  • Rear: push-and-rotate locking plug
  • 180° locking action: helps secure the assembly during operation

The removable design also makes access easier when it's time to inspect, rinse, or clean the recovery channel.

Modular 9-Section Construction

The Gold Witch is built around a modular architecture rather than one oversized single-piece body.

The complete system consists of:

  • 8 body modules
  • 1 funnel section
  • Approximately 67.5" total assembled length

Individual Body Module

Approximately:

7.493" × 7.496" × 3.398"

Internal Chute Width

Approximately:

6.370"

Funnel Assembly

Approximately:

15.029" W × 7.550" L × 3.398" H

The sectional construction makes a very long recovery system possible while keeping the individual manufactured components manageable.

Two Configurations

With Carrying Handle

Includes the carrying-handle configuration and alternate upper section featuring HMO detailing and logo treatment.

Without Carrying Handle

A more streamlined configuration without the integrated carrying handle.

Both versions use the same core Gold Witch recovery-channel architecture.

Finished Weight

Approximately:

7.1–8.4 lbs, depending on configuration.

Included Hardware

The Gold Witch hardware package includes:

  • 36 × M5 × 24 mm countersunk-head screws
  • 36 × M5 washers
  • M5 nuts as required by the selected configuration
  • 1 × M5 wing nut

I would use that wording until we confirm why the current specification says “35/36 nuts.” We shouldn't make the customer guess which quantity applies.

Assembly Notes

Seal the Section Joints

Apply an appropriate silicone sealant to joining surfaces during assembly.

This helps reduce water and fine-material leakage between modular sections.

Allow the sealant to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions before operating the chute.

Expansion-Grid Fasteners

Secure the expansion-grid hardware firmly enough to prevent unwanted movement while still allowing practical removal during cleanup.

Avoid unnecessarily over-tightening hardware or damaging printed components.

Designed as a Recovery System

The Gold Witch isn't based on the idea that one riffle shape should do everything.

Its extended channel allows different portions of the chute to perform different jobs as material progresses through the system.

Grizzly classification → primary recovery → secondary fine recovery → expansion-grid recovery

That long, staged architecture is the real point of the design.

As with every sluice or recovery chute, actual performance depends on:

  • Water volume and velocity
  • Chute angle
  • Feed rate
  • Material classification
  • Gold size and shape
  • Black-sand concentration
  • Clay content
  • Overall setup and operator technique

The Gold Witch provides the recovery structures.

You tune the system to the ground you're working.

USA Made. Maker Direct.

The Gold Witch isn't a catalog product with an HMO label attached.

We design it. We manufacture it. We inspect it.

Its modular construction also means the design can evolve without requiring us to throw away the entire concept every time field experience identifies something that can be improved.

Feedback from prospectors can go directly back into future production and design decisions.

That's what maker-direct means at Hobby Miner Outlet.

Built Different. By Design.

At approximately 67.5 inches long, Gold Witch isn't trying to be a tiny backpack sluice.

It's built for the prospector who wants a longer working channel, staged recovery geometry, direct material feeding, and room for the material to work through multiple recovery sections.

More channel. More recovery structure. More control over how the material moves through the system.
