The Rocker Pan

A compact rectangular prospecting pan built around a rocking motion and a central trap channel.

The Rocker Pan departs from the traditional round-pan shape with parallel sides and a central channel intended to provide a defined settling area while material is worked with a gentle rocking motion.

Choose Your Version

  • Coarse & Fine (Dual Riffle) — coarse riffles on one side and finer riffles on the opposite side.
  • Coarse & Smooth — coarse riffles on one side with a smooth working surface on the other for concentrate control and cleanup.

Key Features

  • Central trap channel — provides a defined recessed area through the middle of the pan.
  • Rocker-style operation — intended to be worked with a controlled rocking motion.
  • 8.5-inch compact size — suited to sampling, field carrying, and concentrate work.
  • PETG construction — selected for toughness, moisture resistance, and practical additive manufacturing.
  • Parallel-sided geometry — creates a different water and material path than a conventional round pan.
  • Manufactured in Oregon — HMO Original, hand-inspected before shipment.

Performance Depends on Technique and Material

The rectangular geometry and center channel are intentional design features, but HMO does not claim that this pan universally retains more fine gold than every round pan. Actual recovery depends on technique, water movement, classification, material composition, and gold size and shape.
