Pre-Trip Planning

Prospecting Gear

Safety Equipment

  • First aid kit
  • Gloves and eye protection
  • Waders or waterproof boots
  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
  • Emergency whistle
  • Emergency contact information

Navigation & Communication

  • GPS device or phone with offline maps
  • Download GPS hotspots from our free prospecting guide
  • Topographic map of the area
  • Two-way radios (for groups or remote areas)

Food, Water & Camp

  • Water (minimum 2L per person per day) or filtration system
  • High-energy snacks and meals
  • Camping gear if staying overnight

For Groups

  • Designate a group leader and communication plan
